5 Fears That Hold You Back and Why

5 Fears That Hold You Back and Why

Do you have fears that hold you back from trying new things that may improve your life either personally or professionally? Well it is NOT uncommon for you or anybody else to experience the feeling of anxiety once you’ve left your comfort zone to try something new! We all have certain self-doubts that inhibit our abilities to take action in particular areas and being paralyzed by fear in this way will keep you from experiencing a fuller life! The first step in overcoming fears like these is to recognized what they are and why they keep us from taking action!

Here are 5 very common fears that can and will limit the amount of success and happiness you can experience in your life and why they do so…

Success

Being successful at anything usually takes hard work and dedication but even this does NOT guarantee success will be yours! Another thing to consider is that once you’ve achieved any measure of success, expectations of YOU will increase and this can therefore apply more pressure to many people due to higher expectations of them! Success also tends to ‘push’ people closer to the limelight and although this type attention is commonly desired, some people place a high value on their privacy and may find the attention invasive! The above scenarios all point to the discomfort associated with being removed from your comfort zone and having to adjust to newer and higher standards!

Failure

The ‘flip-side’ of success is of course failure and many are understandably paralyzed by fear that if they attempt anything new they will fail! For starters failing to achieve your goals, whatever they may be, is a humbling experience! The realization that despite your efforts yours goals were not reached is a wake-up call to not only your ego but also the fact that you may have over-reached your potential requiring you to lower your own expectations, ouch! Possibly the biggest reason we all fear failure is the embarrassment associated with others being aware of your less than successful efforts thereby diminishing your sense of worth! In this case many may feel it is better NOT to try than to try and fail!

Commitment

Many have a fear of commitment due to what they may feel is a loss of their ‘current’ freedom by taking on new long-term responsibilities! Some people feel they just don’t have anymore room in their lives for additional responsibilities while others simply feel this commitment will keep them from pursuing other opportunities that may present themselves! These people just want to keep their ‘options’ open in hopes better things still await them! Dreamers like this will typically always try to avoid committing to anything including any associated responsibilities!

Change

For many, no matter what the current status of their lives may be, the fact remains that they are familiar with what to expect! Being in your comfort zone does NOT always mean you’re doing well but rather you are ‘settled’ in your current existence and have learned to make do with it! Change is often good although sometimes it may not be, but the fact is change can be very unpredictable and who wants to deal with that?

Death/Injury

This particular fear is simple to understand, it’s called self-preservation and most every living mammal or otherwise possesses this instinct! Only extreme thrill seekers will intentionally put themselves in harms way just for the sake of the experience and/or adrenaline rush! Most people would literally be paralyzed by fear when facing situations, intentionally or otherwise, that could lead to injury or death! Actually this is a very healthy fear to have and is one that I too possess!

Having fears that hold you back in any part of your life can typically be attributed to you venturing from your comfort zone! In many cases, fearing change like we just referred to above, can easily be overcome, but when you’re paralyzed by fear or the feeling of anxiety, obviously the issues behind these fears are more deeply rooted! By identifying what is holding you back and understanding the reasons why, you’re in a much better position to take the necessary corrective actions as we discussed above! Look, life is to be enjoyed and fully experienced, but remaining on the sidelines due to your doubts or fears will only limit the amount of success and joy you ‘allow’ into your life! Take action now and get the hell out of your comfort zone so you can fully participate in the life you have been given!

What Keeps Holding You Back From a Better Life?

What Keeps Holding You Back From a Better Life?

Do you aspire to a better life yet something keeps holding you back from taking the necessary steps to make this happen! You may want to build your own business, further your education or make other improvements that will enhance your life but yet you’re still reluctant to do what it takes to make things happen that will transform your aspirations into your reality? Watching life pass you by and seeing others enjoy the same things you want for yourself is like living in a silent hell! This is especially true when you get so damn entrenched in your comfort zone that even if you posses the ability to change things for the better, you still retreat back into the same life you so much want to change and/or escape! In this way you seem to be sabotaging not only your chances of success but also a life-style that will bring you joy and contentment! Well you’re not alone however if you don’t take measures to make things happen that will bring about the changes you seek or aspire to, you run the risk of watching life pass you by!

We all have our reasons for putting things off or NOT making the changes we need to make, even when capable of doing so, which brings us to this ‘wake up call’ in the following brief video featuring Amy Schmittauer!

As Amy so politely put it in the above video, you need to get off your ass and put aside any issues or reasons that are holding you back from improving your life! That’s right, no matter what may be keeping you from taking action on your dreams or aspirations, it is up to you to make things happen otherwise your dreams will remain just that, dreams! Your own reluctance to take action may result from certain fears such as the fear of success, failure or even the unknown, and this is why you may tend to retreat back into your comfort zone which ironically is the same situation your trying to escape! One thing is for certain however, unless you take that first step, be it successful or not, if you don’t try to make things happen to improve your life, nothing will change other than a growing regret that you never even tried in the first place! Just something to think about and take action on if you are so inclined…

Developing Self Discipline is Easier than You Think

Developing Self Discipline is Easier than You Think

Developing self discipline is something we all need to do as we take on more responsibilities or tackle new opportunities in our lives! There’s no denying that life can serve up a lot of temptations as well as challenges we may NOT relish however it is the challenges and our ability to overcome them that makes us successful! Now understandably nobody wants to crawl out of bed facing a day of challenges and stress however this is life and if you’re not willing to venture outside your comfort zone where life, although possibly mundane, is kinder, easier, gentler and a lot more familiar you’ll never grow, on any level! For people who do want to grow and learn new things, they must learn to face their fears and/or challenges even when faced with temptations they find much more pleasurable and a lot less stressful!

Acquiring and/or developing the discipline you need to succeed in many endeavors can be as simple as practicing and adopting new habits which we’re going to discuss here today!

Developing self discipline is as much a part of growing up as attending school or playing with friends! Life will offer you many challenges, some of which you may actively try to avoid, but the fact is real growth will only come to you once you’ve stepped outside your comfort zone to address these challenges! The point is many successes as well as failures are directly associated with the level of discipline the person has and this particular attribute is absolutely what you need to succeed in many aspects of your life! I do understand the reluctance of many to take the path of least resistance by avoiding opportunities or challenges that place certain demands on you, but if you have the chance to better yourself, why would you turn it away! Our discussion above with Sean McCabe offers you some simple suggestions you can put to use IMMEDIATELY, to make you more successful, productive and self-satisfied in terms of developing the discipline you need to succeed, no matter what your goals may be, provided they’re realistic!

Feeling Overwhelmed and How to Control It

Feeling Overwhelmed and How to Control It

Feeling overwhelmed is typically the result of finding yourself outside your comfort zone and having to process too much information with which you have little familiarity! Left alone and unaddressed this feeling or sensation of fear, frustration or even dread, call it what you will, can literally keep you from taking action of any kind! At this point clearly you have lost trust in yourself and it is this lack of confidence that tends to paralyze you from learning new skills or being more productive! So how do you overcome or control the feeling of being overwhelmed when taking on new challenges with which you’ve got little or no prior experience?

Here is a simple 5 step process you can use to control and even reverse any overwhelming feelings you may have when you have ventured outside your comfort zone!

Speak About It

By virtue of the fact that you are sharing your feelings outwardly with others demonstrates you recognize your ordeal, great! Firstly it is always good to seek advice on problems and/or situations with which you have little experience in, or knowledge of, since their input is usually of great value! Tips, suggestions and even simple anecdotes shared by ‘networking’ with others could very well be the key to the solution of what currently confronts you! Remember, you’re confiding in people you trust so you tend to remain in your comfort zone making it easier to comprehend, analyze and act upon advise given!

Identify the Source(s)

What is or what was it that made you lose the trust in yourself you need to succeed at accomplishing a new task or learn a new skill? Do you lack the ability to comprehend or understand what you need to do to successfully learn, or apply what you have learned, in order to master a skill or complete a particular task? Whatever it is that has ‘stopped you in your tracks’ or made you believe the challenge you’re facing is beyond your capabilities must be identified so you can focus on how to resolve the issue! How can you solve any problem without first knowing what it is?

Get Yourself Organized

Once your problem or issue has been clearly identified you can now determine what it is you need to do to find the solution! This may involve further education on the subject or perhaps consideration may be given towards adopting a new strategy that will help you overcome your challenge and dissolve your feelings of being overwhelmed! You MUST take control of the situation by organizing and directing your efforts in a way that will bring a resolution as quickly and simply as possible! If the problem stems from having too much information to process at one time, SLOW DOWN and address each new piece of information individually! Divide and conquer! Remember, once you take more control over the situation you’re facing the feelings of helplessness, despair and yes, even the feeling of being overwhelmed will all fade!

Plan & Prioritize

Now that you’ve brought a bit of organization to the chaos that has formally intimidated you, you can now plan your work so you can work your plan! Determine what needs to be completed first, whether it’s a task or perhaps it may involve additional learning, to help you reach your intended goals! Once you’ve got your plan or road-map established you’ll find yourself slipping back into your comfort zone because now you know what to do and how to do it!

Take Appropriate Actions

When Feeling Overwhelmed You Need to Take ActionNow that you’ve got yourself a plan for ‘defeating’ the obstacles that have rendered you frustrated and confused, it’s a simple matter of taking action! When you know what to do and when to do so, you have now regained more trust in yourself that you can and will succeed simply because you are now in control, once again! Remember, if you think you can, you can, and if you think you can’t, you’re right, so set your mind to think in terms of success and you’ll always be facing in the right direction!

Feeling overwhelmed is NOT unusual when you find yourself trying to process too much information about anything outside your comfort zone! Although this feeling is actually quite common, especially for people who are NOT afraid to try something new, if left unaddressed it can slow your progress to a crawl! What typically happens is you begin to lose trust in yourself or your abilities to succeed at what you’re doing and this lack of confidence can undermine your willingness to even continue trying! Identifying and controlling these feelings of overwhelm is critical in your attempts to learn or master new skills that are currently outside your comfort zone! The simple 5 step process suggested above will help you ‘break down’ and systematically overcome the seeds of doubt or frustration that may arise within you when trying anything new!

Uninstalling the Window 10 Free Upgrade

Uninstalling the Window 10 Free Upgrade

I noticed today that Microsoft is announcing they are changing the ‘rules’ for installing the Windows 10 free upgrade by allowing people to use the existing product keys from their current windows operating system 7 or 8.1 to download Windows 10. Well this got me to thinking ‘what if’ you’ve already downloaded the free upgrade and wished you didn’t? With all these changes in downloading and/or using the newest and supposedly best ever windows operating system it is understandable how this could easily take you right out of your comfort zone and yearning for your previous and more familiar operating system! Well today we’re going to discuss how you can turn back the ‘sands of time’ by uninstalling the latest Microsoft operating system and revert back to version 7 or 8.1 if you care or dare!

Not everybody who has downloaded the Windows 10 free upgrade is experiencing a smooth transition and if you feel the same since this ‘upgrade’ has knocked you right out of your comfort zone, you can still revert back to Windows 7 or 8.1! Although the latest and greatest windows operating system is suppose to give you a much better user experience than its predecessors, it is still considered a ‘work in progress’ as Microsoft continues to work out the kinks! Many users are left feeling a bit disoriented or uncomfortable and therefore may regret, for the time being, downloading Windows 10! Our discussion above focuses on giving you clear and detailed instructions on how to uninstall your free upgrade so you can continue using the more established (familiar) and previous versions! I think it’s safe to assume that Microsoft will get their newest Windows operating system working smoothly and seamlessly, but for the time being the ‘option’ to reverse your decision and go back to Windows 7 or 8.1 is still available and the video above shows you exactly how to do so!
